Day 11 – Single Parent Families

April 6, 2016

Colossians 3:20  Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.

Isaiah 40:29  He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.

Psalm 146:9  He relieves the fatherless and widow; But the way of the wicked He turns upside down.

PRAYER:  Heavenly and wonderful Father! We ask for You to pour your love out on our single parent families. We as the Church ask that You would stir our hearts to reach out with love, encouragement, friendship, and, at times, resources. Forgive us when we have been judgmental and let us be grateful when single parents bring their children to church. Help us to love their children and be surrogate parents and role models as You would lead. Help us not to weary in well doing, and make us sensitive to know how to help. Father, You are a Father to the fatherless, and we ask that You would make Yourself real to these families, and let them see You through us. Give them strength to fight the good fight of faith, work hard, be resourceful and to succeed. Cause them to prosper and be of good health, and be of very good courage. Help them to train up their children in the way they should go so when they are old, they won’t depart from it. Help single parents have the energy to discipline their children consistently, and let them always have enough good food on the table, clothing and a safe dwelling, a peaceable habitation. We pray protection for parents from temptations that would ensnare and limit their ability to be good parents. Provide a way of escape from corrupt companionship for both the parents and the children. For parents that are sharing custody, we pray that You would help these parents work things out peaceably and responsibly. We pray a hedge of protection over the children from the negative emotions their parents are experiencing and that You would help them with self-control in the children’s presence. We pray protection from abusive situations, and that You would provide a way of escape back toward stability. Father, You know all things. Keep these parents and their children fixed, stable and safe in the shadow of Your wing. In Jesus Name! I pray for:

  • The single parents I know
  • Their children
  • Financial resources
  • Custody issues
  • Healthy relationships
  • Life in Christ
