Day 39 – The Media

Lord, We ask that …“The Spirit of the Lord God (would come upon them}, because the Lord has anointed {them} to bring good news to the poor; he has sent them}, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to those who are bound, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor…. They shall build up the ancient ruins, they shall raise up the former desolations, they shall repair the ruined cities (nation), the devastation of many generations.” Isaiah 61:1-2, 4

“Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.” Philippians 4:8

Lord Jesus,

We as Americans have immersed ourselves, intentionally or unintentionally, in media of all kinds, unfiltered, untruthful, blasphemous. We are bombarded with demonic imagery wherever we look. Lord, Christians suffer along with non-Christians. We stand in the gap and cry out for an overhaul of our media, and repent for indulging our senses, and for our loss of innocence.

Our nation is in great need of honest communication, that is factual, honorable, and encouraging. We stand in the gap for our networks, social media, and movie making businesses and we ask that You would invade all forms of media with Your Holy Spirit. And that You would place in them – those who make decisions- the fear of the Lord (hatred of evil, pride, arrogance, and perverted speech (Prov.8:13). Place in them, the desire to hunger and thirst for Your righteousness and truth, to be salt and light to a hurting world. Lord, let them shift their mania for creating a story, to that which proclaims hope, healing, liberty, and a raising up of our broken places. Lord, let the words and subjects to which they flock to be filled with truth, nobility, responsibility and righteousness. Let them proclaim and extol the honorable and minimize coverage of ill repute and darkness. Indeed, our media has the ability to exalt or tear down a culture, so cause a shift in cultural values of our people to be drawn to light. Help our media leaders to take this responsibility seriously. Help Americans to flee wickedness in their media choices. Expose media that is hidden in darkness and cause the market on this kind of media to dry up. Bring healing to those who are bound by pornography, immorality of every kind, violence, and treachery. Help the American people to choose salt and light in their programming choices and to flee from soaking in ungodly media.

Now, Lord, I ask that You would examine my heart, and bring conviction when I entertain myself with demonic /un-Godly imagery. Lord, make me aware now, of programs I need to avoid._______I confess this as sin. Fill my heart with a hunger for what You say is righteous. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
