Day 38 – Business

“In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want people to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7:12

Father God, You have blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenlies in Christ! We indeed are abundantly blessed – far more than any in the history of this earth! We have so much, all because of Your grace and mercy. We praise You for what You have done in building this country. May all our businesses today recognize Your hand in providing everything we have. May we see that it is not our strength or intellect that has caused all this to happen; it is through the gifts You have provided that has caused our prosperity. Please forgive any arrogance or pride on our part. You have given great minds to understand what You have made and how to use it productively. You have endowed people with great skills to accomplish great things. May those who have been so blessed consider themselves as stewards of what You have entrusted, remaining mindful that we are all accountable to You.

Lord, we thank you for the gift of free enterprise and the ability to gain wealth that has made this nation great. This gift has provided millions of jobs, and strengthened our financial base as a nation. Now, we ask You to strengthen the business community with Your wisdom to use this gift wisely and for the good of all concerned. We ask that You would help our businesses to put Americans back to work, using American made products that can be competitively priced. We pray for a spirit of Excellence in American made products that will make You proud! Make American business leaders excellent stewards of their employees, resources, and production. Grant them steady markets. Help Americans to seek American made and locally produced products to strengthen our communities. We pray protection from overzealous regulation that limits our ability to succeed. We praise You and thank you for our business leaders and ask that You would endow them with a spirit of generosity, to help raise up a standard within their communities and the world, of meeting needs.

Likewise, we pray that every person involved in business today, from the highest paid executive to the lowest paid worker, would live by Your “golden rule” in everything. Such a simple command and yet so profound– it would change so much for the better if we only lived by it. Change our hearts O God to cherish the truths of Your Word, seeking the wisdom that comes from above, and living by the plan You have prepared for our good. We pray protection for those who honor You in the workplace. May the values of honesty and hard work be cherished. We pray for the just treatment of all — even as they want to be treated, just at You taught us Lord Jesus. It is in Your name that we pray. Amen.
